Do you want to take your sailing knowledge and expertise to the next level?  Want to skipper your own boat on a multi day adventurous journey to far off places? This American Sailing Association Accredited course is the highest level course that we offer and allows you to skipper in the US and most popular sailing destinations in Europe. To take this course, you must have taken the Basic Keelboat Sailing Standard (ASA 101) and Basic Coastal Cruising Standard (ASA 103). You are strongly encouraged to form a crew of 4. This course covers one module.


CERTIFICATE LIMITATIONS:

  • Able to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered keelboat of approximately 30-45 feet in length in a multi-length cruise upon inland or coastal waters, in moderate to heavy winds and sea conditions

  • This certificate will allow you to skipper in the US

  • You can also skipper in some *European countries by submitting an online application for the ASA's International Proficiency Certificate. 

* European countries include Belarus, Croatia, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey

More information on the course:

Students will participate and learn to be a skipper / captain aboard a 30ft - 45ft sailing cruiser.

  • Pre-course study and on-the-water training sessions.

  • Written exam at the end of the course

  • Classes will be conducted on our boats 

  • Successful candidates will receive an American Sailing Association certificate upon completion.

  • The course allows you to apply for ASA's International Proficiency Certificate (IPC) which requires ASA101, ASA103 and ASA104.

    • The IPC allows you to skipper in the US and select *European countries.

* European countries include Belarus, Croatia, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey

  • Course run time:

    9am to 6pm daily for 4 days


    *Students can decide whether to stay overnight but do note that students are required to stay overnight for at least one night*

    Pre-requisites:

    Basic Keelboat Sailing Standard (ASA 101) and Basic Coastal Cruising Standard (ASA 103). 

    At least 80 hours of on water sailing experience which can be fulfilled with the ASA 101 and ASA 103 courses that we offer.
